AUTUMN ON MY MIND

This tutorial was written for those who

have a working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro.

It was written by me on November 12, 2008 and comes from my own creativity.

Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidence

Supplies needed:

PSP X2 (any version will work)

Tube of choice.  I am using the fantastic artwork of

Ismael Rac.  You can purchase his work at MPT here

Mask WSL_Mask84.  Download it here

PTU scrap kit “Autumn on my Mind” from Alane at

Inspired to Dream Scraps.  You can purchase it here

2 Fonts of choice (I used Script MT Bold and Bradley Hand)

Filter Needed:  DSB Flux, Bright Noise

Supplies:  No Supplies for this tutorial

Open tube and mask and minimize them for now.  Open scrap kit.

Open a new image 600 pixels wide by 600 pixels high.  We will resize later.

Flood fill with white.

Choose a paper from the scrap kit. Resize to 600 X 600 pixels, copy, paste as a new layer.

Layers, new mask layer from image, find WSL_Mask84 and apply.  Layer, delete, yes to the question.  Merge group.

Image, Canvas Size, 700 pixels wide, 600 pixels high, 50 pixels on each side.  Highlight bottom layer, flood fill with white.

Duplicate Mask layer.  Move one mask layer toward top and the other toward bottom (see my tag)

Make a circle using preset shapes, ellipse, foreground white, background null, line width 1, coordinates 65x,65y, then 550x and 550y.  Hold down the shift key as you make the circle to make it perfectly round.  Objects, Align, Center in canvas.  Convert to raster layer

If you haven't used coordinates before they are easy.  Here's how.  Move your freehand selection tool (or required tool) slowly back and forth and up and down your image without clicking it.  If you look in the bottom right hand corner of your PSP program you will see a set of numbers changing as you move your tool around.  Those numbers are coordinates.  Line up your preset selection tool at the first set of coordinates then drag down and to the right till you find your second set of coordinates.

Select inside circle with magic wand.  Open the tube.  Copy, paste as a new layer.  Selections, Invert, Selections, Float, Selections, Defloat.  Using the eraser tool carefully erase the unwanted tube bits (at bottom),  Selections, None, Drop Shadow 5, 5, 40, 7.

Open autumn tube of choice from kit.  (I used scarecrow 03)  Resize by 5 percent twice.  Copy, paste as a new layer to left side of main tube (see mine).  Drop shadow as before.

Open Pumpkin 01.  Resize by 50 percent 2 times, then by 80 percent 2 times, copy, paste as a new layer to lower right of scarecrow.  (see mine)  Drop shadow as before.

Open bow 02.  Image, Resize by 50 percent 2 times, then by 80 percent 3 times.  Copy, paste as a new layer between scarecrow and pumpkin tubes.  Image, Rotate, Free Rotate, Left by 18.  Add a drop shadow as before.

Highlight Raster 2 Layer (the layer with the circle) in the layer palette and delete.

Open journal block 02.  Resize by 50 percent twice, then by 80 percent.  Use handwriting font and add text.  I used Bradley Hand, black, 18, and random autumn descriptive words.  Drag below main tube layer.  Image, Rotate, Free Rotate,

Open Cherry Blossom 01.  Resize by 20 percent.  Copy, paste as a new layer above journal block.  Carefully erase any stem showing at bottom.  Drop shadow as before

Open word art Autumn on my Mind.  Resize by 80 percent, Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen, then by 20 percent, Adjust, Sharpness, Sharpen.  Copy and Paste to left top.  Duplicate this layer 2 times.  (there are 3 layers of word art altogether)

Add name to lower right (see my tag)  Drop shadow as before

Image Resize all layers to 550 x 471 pixels or size of choice

Add copyright layer.

Highlight first layer of word art.  Effects, Plugins, DSB Flux, Bright Noise, 34 Mix OK.  Highlight 2nd layer of word art, Effects, Plugins, DSB Flux, Bright Noise, 38, Mix OK.  Highlight 3rd layer of word art, Effects, Plugins, DSB Flux, Bright Noise, 42, Mix OK.

 Animation

Open Animation Shop.

In the layer palette X out the 2 copied layers of word art.  Edit, copy merged, over to animation shop, Edit, paste as a new animation.  Back to Paint Shop Pro.  X out the first layer of work art and remove X from 2nd layer.  Edit, Copy merged, over to animation shop, paste after current frame.  Make this frame active.  Back to Paint Shop Pro.  X out the second layer of work art and remove X from 3rd layer. (lower 2 layers are X'd out)  Edit, Copy merged, over to animation shop, paste after current frame.

You’re done!
