NAUGHTY OR NICE?

This tutorial was written for those who

have a working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro.

It was written by me on November 14, 2008 and comes from my own creativity.

Any resemblance to another tutorial is purely coincidence

Supplies needed:

PSP X2 (any version will work)

Tube of choice.  I am using the fantastic artwork of

Scott Blair.  You can purchase his work at MPT here

Mask WSL_Mask84.  Download it here

FTU scrap kit “Sweet Christmas” from Cyrene at

Graphic Illusions.  You can download it here. 

Frame - free to use  (supplied)

Animated Silver Sparkles (supplied)

Animated flickering candles (supplied)

Font of choice (I used Aardvark Bold (supplied)

Supplies:  Get Them Here

Open tube and mask and minimize them for now.  Open scrap kit.

Open a new image 600 pixels wide by 600 pixels high.  We will resize later. 

Flood fill with white.

Choose a paper from the scrap kit. (I used paper Paper 3).  Resize to 600 X 600 pixels, copy, paste as a new layer.

Layers, new mask layer from image, find WSL_Mask84 and apply.  Layer, delete, yes to the question.  Merge group. 

Duplicate Mask layer.  Move one mask layer toward top right and the other toward bottom left (see my tag)

Copy frame, paste as a new layer.  Resize by 90 percent

    Open the main tube.  Copy, paste as a new layer.  See my tag for placement, Drop Shadow 5, 5, 40, 7.

Open bow of choice from kit. Copy, paste as a new layer to left side of frame. (see mine).  Resize by 80 percent 4 times. Drop shadow as before.

Resize and copy, paste some candy pieces to lower left.  Arrange.

Add name at left lower (see mine) stroke 2, white,fill null  

With the magic wand select inside of each letter of your name.  Layers, Duplicate 2 twice.  (3 name layers altogether)

Highlight first layer.  Change materials layer to pattern.  You should have the 3 green/candle frame tubes on your desktop), select the first one, flood fill each letter of the name.  Highlight 2nd layer of name, select the second candles frame in your materials palette, flood fill in each letter.  Highlight 3rd layer of name and repeat with 3rd candles frame.

Image Resize all layers to 500 X 500 pixels or size of choice

Add copyright layer. 

 Animation

Open Animation Shop.

In the layer palette X out the 2 copied layers of the name.  Edit, copy merged, over to animation shop, Edit, paste as a new animation.  Back to Paint Shop Pro.  X out the first layer of name and remove X from 2nd layer.  Edit, Copy merged, over to animation shop, paste after current frame.  Make this frame active.  Back to Paint Shop Pro.  X out the second layer of work art and remove X from 3rd layer. (lower 2 layers are X'd out)  Edit, Copy merged, over to animation shop, paste after current frame.

Check your animation.  You should see tiny candle flame flickering.

Open silver sparkle in animation shop.

Click on silver sparkle, Edit, Select All, Edit copy

Click on tag.  Edit, Select all, Edit, Paste into selected frame

Add as many of these sparklies as you would like

Save tag as a gif animation file.
